This book presents methods for environmental characterisation of estuarine ecosystems, especially in the Bacanga River estuary, whose natural dynamics have been altered by the construction of a dam there. The book will provide the reader with knowledge of methods that can determine the geochemical and water quality of an estuarine ecosystem, as well as identifying the effects of a dam on the quality of an estuary and consequently on the fishing activity carried out by the riverside population. It also includes a set of images that show how the local landscape around the dam has changed over the course of 60 years. She has a degree in Oceanography and a Master's degree in Sustainability of Aquatic Ecosystems from the Federal University of Maranhão, an Environmental Sanitation technician from the Federal Institute of Maranhão, and is currently studying pedagogical training at the State University of Maranhão. She has experience in the area of environmental geochemistry in environments and with traditional populations.
