Using the qualitative ethnographic methodology of
direct observation, tools from Neuro
Linguistic Programming and Neuro Semantics, personal
experiences, metaphors, allegories, and deep
personal introspection the author answered the
research question: What do CEOs do, how do they do
it and how do they think about what they do? In
doing this he prised open the black box of the
lived experience of the strategic leader. The result
is the pure leadership spider web model which
breaks down the content of the black box into eight
dimensions: the personal leadership philosophy;
emotional states of mind brought to bear in
meetings; kinaesthetic patterns used during
meetings; emotional states evoked in meetings;
emotional states brought to bear on day-to-day shop-
floor engagement; emotional states brought to bear
in peer leadership engagement sessions; meta-frames
of mind governing day-to-day experiences; and the
mastery and use of language using the powerful
transformational Magic Language Box. The book lays
out 16 steps for implementing the model and is
useful to CEOs, leaders, personal and leadership
development consultants and for HR.
