The Challenges of Independent Power Producers in Nigeria

Nigeria has great potentials to become the power hub of West Africa. Virtually all the neighboring countries would readily import electricity from Nigeria if the country gets it right. Most importantly the dwindling fortunes of the companies in Nigeria will automatically cease and better times will be recorded by these firms if there is adequate electricity supply. This is because previous researches have shown that more than half of production cost in Nigeria is incurred from the cost of improvising electricity. This has made the companies close down operations in Nigeria and has automatically resulted in large scale unemployment.
