British architect Cedric Price (19342003) had a lifelong fascination with the mechanization of society and its effect on people's lives. In the 1960s and '70s, Price began to look for answers to some of the pressing problems he saw in society in the tenets of architecture and design.   Tanja Herdt ist Architektin mit Schwerpunkt Städtebau und hat an der ETH Zürich über das Werk von Cedric Price promoviert. 20122015 leitete sie den Forschungsschwerpunkt «Produkt und Raum» an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste ZHdK. Seit 2015 leitet sie das Städtebauteam des Planungsunternehmens Metron Raumentwicklung in Brugg und lehrt an der Technischen Universität München.

  Der britische Architekt Cedric Price (1934-2003) setzte sich zeitlebens mit der Technisierung der Gesellschaft auseinander und suchte zu Beginn der Informations- und Dienstleistungsgesellschaft der 1960er- und 1970er-Jahre nach einer neuen Sprache der modernen Architektur. Sein interdisziplinärer und auch humorvoller Umgang mit der eigenen Fachrichtung führte Price sowohl in die Welt der Kunst als auch in die Welt der Sozial- und Naturwissenschaften.
