The complexity of the REDD+ mechanism in the Congo Basin forests

The tropical forests of the Congo Basin play an important role in the global climate balance. Forests must be managed sustainably and deforestation reduced in order to mitigate climate change. The REDD+ mechanism brings adapted solutions for the conservation of tropical forests. REDD+ mobilizes international climate law and international law on sustainable forest management to change African regional and sub-regional environmental law and to bring domestic and traditional law into line with new sustainable practices. REED+ participates in the notion of global ecological solidarity that reduces deforestation for the transgenerational sustainability of natural resources.
