The entire twentieth century authentically documents the kaleidoscopic phase of literary interpretation. The large number of literary theories that have emerged till the 1970s view literature in terms of their ideology: some reject the author and accept the text; some accept both while some of them bring the reader in consideration in the act of literary interpretation. This has imparted a multidimensional facet to literary interpretation. In the context of such multidimensional literary interpretation the present book "The Concept of Author, text and Reader Theory - A Critical Analysis traverses succinctly through the labyrinth of contemporary literary thoughts engaged in the making of meaning of a literary work. Apart from dealing with the various theoretical concepts of author, text and the emergence of Reader Theory, this book is an endeavor to reconcile the theoretical differences regarding the place of author, text and reader in the act of interpretation. The book projects a triangular relation among the author, text and reader in the process of making of meaning. Key words: Author, Text, Reader, Meaning, Defamiliarization, Horizon of Expectations, Reader Theory.
