Jesus asked for God's forgiveness of those who crucified him: Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. Islam teaches that Allah is The Oft-Forgiving original source of all forgiveness. In the Bahá'í Writings: Love the creatures for the sake of God and not for themselves. In Buddhism, forgiveness prevent harmful thoughts from causing havoc on one's mental well-being. In Hindu philosophy is being compassionate, tender, kind and letting go of the harm or hurt caused by someone. Forgiveness is virtue, sacrifice, the Vedas, asceticism, holiness held together the universe. In Jainism, Forgiveness is the main virtue to cultivate.
