The book is devoted to the problem of determining the international legal status of the Caspian Sea. It was prepared in the form of a historical-legal genesis, the leading international legal sources, concluded in different epochs, were noted and analyzed, the opinions of leading world scientists, as well as leaders of the Caspian states, were shown. -The position of this largest water body of our planet. And finally, all the steps were commented from the beginning to the signing of the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea, and the basic provisions of this convention were reviewed in accordance with international law.

Rustam Mammadov was born in 1956 in the city of Baku. Works as head of the department of international law at Baku State University. He is the author of 28 monographies and textbooks, about 200 articles on various problems of international law.
