The Creativity Enhancing Work Environment

Creativity has increasingly become one of the most decisive factors in today's business environment. Any organizational asset other than human creativity can easily be copied by competition. Technology has replaced man as a pure producer. This is not a threat, but an opportunity towards true humanity: Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi stated already: "Of all human activities, creativity comes closest to providing the fulfillment we all hope to get in our lives." The Creativity Enhancing Work Environment starts by analyzing the theoretical foundations of creativity, develops an attempt towards a theoretically optimal environment, both social and physical, to foster organizational creativity and ends with an empirical study examining the reality in today's organizations providing original quotes. Participating companies are from many different industries and include Google and several other, mostly German, organizations whose wish to remain anonymous was respected.

Born in Nuremberg, Sebastian J. Kuhnert studied Business Administration/Management with a focus on Leadership, Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Marketing at WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management and at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His interests comprise Philosophy and Psychology, too. He is also working on a novel on social empathy.
