The economics of privacy regulations

In the past 30 years', technology has taken a huge step for-ward, improving our daily life in many aspects. It has become easier to connect with other people all over the globe and thanks to the Internet we have access to almost every infor-mation needed. Thanks to Big Data, we can track and monitor all our production lines and improve them for a higher output. The same way production industry tries to increase their output through closely monitoring their machines, the sales industries does the same but with information generated by their custom-ers. The information can either be used to help the consumer by offering and producing customized products or to his disad-vantage through dynamic pricing and revealing sensitive infor-mation. Governmental regulations determine what kind of infor-mation are allowed to be collected and to what extent they can be used. This book will give an overview over the consequences of a change in the regulations for privacy
