This work explores the historical and intellectual development of the Tariqa Qadiriyya Naqshbandiyya (TQN), the amalgamated sufi order founded by Syaikh Ahmad Khatib Sambas (d.1875). The book is focused on the TQN of Pondok Pesantren Suryalaya, West Java as one of the most significant branches of the TQN in present-day Indonesia. It scrutinizes the local development of TQN which is not only taking spiritual role but also functioning as social role and educational tool. Kiyai Haji Shohibulwafa Tajul Arifin (better known as Abah Anom) as the charismatic central figure in TQN has a transformative way to heal young drug addicts and victims of other mental illnesses. There are three main discussions covered in this book. The first part tells briefly on the history of Sufi orders in Indonesia. The second part describes the historical background and early development of the teachings of the TQN as reflected in the works of Shaykh Ahmad Khatib Sambas, Kyai Muslih and Kyai Romly Tamim. The third part is the core of the book discusses the historical and development of the TQN in PP Suryalaya by reviewing the profile of Abah Sepuh as the founder of Pondok Pesantren Suryalaya.
