The Effect of Ethanolic Extract from Lannea grandis Engl. Leaves

DM (diabetes mellitus) disease should be the main priority scale for health services because it clearly has negative impacts. Based on the current epidemiological evidence, the number of diabetics throughout the world reached 200 million people and is expected to increase by more than 330 million in 2025. Utilization of plants as a traditional medicine widely used by Indonesian. Because in addition to cheap and easy to be obtained, traditional medicines has less harmful side effects than chemical drugs. There are many Indonesian traditional medicine that have not been studied, in particular mostly derived from plants. In Aceh Lannea grandis Engl. grow a lot and wild, or its used as a garden fence, and commonly known as Bak Geurundong Pageu. Because of the availability of this plant, and also from the chemical compound that containing flavonoids, the plants could be expected to reduce blood sugar levels as an natural treatment alternative of DM. Described in this book about how to manufacture Lannea grandis Engl. leaf extract and treatment procedures to reduce blood sugar of wistar rat. It is hoped this book can help researchers who wanted to do research on traditional medicine.
