The Global Convergence of Filipino Colonial Mentality
Details
A colonial mentality is a psychological form of racial injustice that perceives ethnic and cultural decline due to colonization. This can be ascribed to the long history of colonization in the Philippines. This empirical and qualitative study investigates whether Filipino Americans born and raised in the United States and other Filipino Born outside the Country share the colonial mindset. This research also examined if and how people's minds can become decolonized. Understanding your past so that you can comprehend your present is a conceptualization of decolonization of the reason that can be applied in various situations. The Filipino identity was also examined in terms of decolonizing the mind. The prior frameworks were also used to look for micro and macro mental health attitudes and other purposes. The postcolonial theory served as the theoretical basis for this investigation. Several features of colonial mentality and mental decolonization were identified from the findings. Finally, the discipline of social work is influenced by issues of mental well-being. It is recommended that social workers who work with Filipino Americans are aware of these potential problems.
