The Glory of Christ and the Church

Church Discipline, in our days and age even in the Church, is understood as a "dirty word", an unloving word, un-Christian, not 'what Jesus would do', an offense. Yet, we do not realize that by simply reading the Word of God, we bring ourselves under the discipline, the instruction of God and our Lord Jesus Christ, which is the greatest blessing of all! Sadly, however, at times, for the protection of the church, the glory of Christ, and protection of those who go astray, the Word must be applied in a remedial way...to remedy an issue that threatens the Church, her glory and purity, and the glory of Christ she represents. Understanding the distinction between instructional and remedial discipline is vital to the life of the Church. With this, Church Discipline is what the Church has fulfilled throughout her history. Del Belcher here offers a brief review of the history of when and how Church Discipline had been applied to threats to the Church's purity and peace and shows how the Church today "gets to" participate in the very same work as it is our turn in history to administer THE great blessing of the Word of God to our lives and to the life of the Church.

In this time, he has served in ordained pastoral ministry for twenty-two years and in undergraduate and graduate studies in adjunct professorships.
