The Grass-roots Power Struggle in China

It attempts to provide a new explanatory framework for the grass-roots power struggle between villagers' committee and village party branch in rural China. Unlike previous research, this dissemination studies the power struggle from a perspective of China's transition to democracy, which is totally a new and valuable attempt.The main argument of this book is that the liberalization without democratization at the basic level of China results in the increasing grass-roots power struggle, but the author thinks the possible prospect of grass-roots power struggle in the foreseeable future shall be bright with the further development of grass-root democratization.

Wenhan Bao got his master degree in Department of Politics in University of York in 2013 and now works as a Ph.D candidate in the program of Public Policy at School of Political Science and Public Administration of Wuhan University.
