The imagination and representation of Great Britain in "Londongrad"

This book analyzes the representation of Great Britain in the Russian television series "Londongrad". The aim is to examine how cultural codes, visual elements and language patterns are used to convey a realistic and multi-layered image of British culture. In contrast to earlier Soviet representations, which relied on clichés and simplified interpretations, "Londongrad" pursues an approach of credible, culturally diverse presentation. It looks at architecture, spatial design, social dynamics and linguistic features that shape the image of the United Kingdom. This series deliberately shows cultural differences to give viewers an authentic view of Britain. The work emphasizes how these codes interact in a semiotic system and require active interpretation by viewers. Overall, the analysis makes it clear that "Londongrad" offers a realistic portrayal of British diversity, characterized by careful selection of motifs, authentic scenes and conscious cultural differentiation.
