The Impact of Interchange Road Projects on Urban Places

Although the "Gotera" interchange road project has successfully achieved its objectives, i.e. facilitating the vehicular mobility, this study revealed that it has also many drawbacks like: it creates conflict between providing for easy traffic flow and preserving the residential and architectural fabrics of the street; it acts as barriers to moving across it; does not encourage an accessible and safe use of the urban space by pedestrians; it does not provide opportunities for social interaction and social mix, therefore, people failed to make strong connection between their personal lives and the interchange place.Thus, this study tries to change what used to be inaccessible barriers and unused urban land into something for everyone to enjoy.
