The Implementation of Health Governance Policies and HIV Prevalence

HIV is a serious health threat to over 10.3 million people in prisons across the world. Studies have highlighted that globally, levels of HIV prevalence in prison population are far higher than in the population outside prisons. In Zimbabwe, the HIV prevalence in prisons is at 28% and in the general communities is at 13.5%. As a means of managing HIV prevalence in prisons, the Zimbabwe government responded to this national HIV problem in prisons by issuing out the National HIV policies which are known as Zimbabwe National HIV and AIDS Strategic Plans (ZNASPs). The different Zimbabwe National HIV and AIDS Strategic Plans (ZNASPs) that were introduced by the government have not been evaluated to see if they are effectively implemented in mitigating the HIV prevalence in Zimbabwe's prisons. This book reveals whether the ZNAPs that were introduced by the government have been effectively implemented in Zimbabwe's prisons.
