The research that gave rise to this book, in 2008, aimed to study and analyze the repercussions caused by the implementation of the Furnas Hydroelectric Power Plant, located in the southwest region of the state of Minas Gerais. The repercussions were considered to be both the processes of "de/re/territorialization", caused by the construction of the plant, and the tourist potential, which arose after the creation of the artificial lake formed by the damming of the waters.
