The importance of MERCOSUR

The importance of a bloc like MERCOSUR is ultimately strategic. Although the countries of South America have their weaknesses, not having a bloc would be even more fatal. The existence of the bloc also means that these countries can, within their limitations, engage in dialog with other stronger blocs. MERCOSUR is the great Brazilian exponent on the international stage, in economic and even political relations, enabling a greater negotiating structure by enjoying the status of an economic bloc.
