The Influence of Personality on Priming Effect
Details
Within modern psychology, a tendency exists to study a certain phenomenon only from the perspective of one s current discipline. In an attempt to break away from this pattern, the author integrates research from various areas of psychology (including cognitive, social, clinical, & educational) in an attempt to understand the effect of individual differences, that is personality, on the extent to which one is influenced by subtle environmental stimuli. The research suggests that unnoticed environmental events can influence one s emotional evaluation of his/her experience, and individuals with different personality types do so differently. In addition, the political and educational implications for these findings are discussed.
