The Kaine Fields

Elizabeth Kaine grows up in poverty on the Caribbean island of St. Vincent. Envious of her friend Christie Laban whose family runs the estate that provide employment for the men of the village - including Elizabeth's father, a drunk who beats on her mother - Elizabeth determines that she will one day be as well-off as these wealthy neighbors. When hard economic times hit, both Elizabeth and Christie set out on an ill-advised path to improve their fortunes, and are led into a life of deception, danger, and murder!

Gemma Mattis was born in the Caribbean island of St. Vincent and grew up in Barbados. She attended Girls' Foundation High School and the Barbados Community College. Gemma started writing short stories at the age of nine as a mandatory class project. She has one self-published novel entitled "Royalty In Waiting".
