The Kingdom of God, Communion, and Solidarity
Details
For the past fifty years Jesuit priest Jon Sobrino (b. 1938) has lived and worked in El Salvador. This book provides a helpful introduction to Sobrino's ecclesiology. Specific attention is directed to Sobrino's understanding of the Kingdom of God, communion, and solidarity and how these theological concepts can be integrated into a unified theology of the Church. The author carefully situates Sobrino's ecclesiology within the context of Vatican II (1962-1965) and the wider history of liberation theology. The book concludes with a critique of Sobrino's ecclesiology and suggestions for further development. Written in a clear and lucid style, THE KINGDOM OF GOD, COMMUNION, AND SOLIDARITY appeals to upper level undergraduate and graduate students. The work represents an important contribution to studies in liberation theology.
