The law of the sea and the Marine environment

The marine environment has unique characteristics that distinguish it from other elements of nature. Since seas and oceans cover more than two thirds of the earth, the marine environment, thus, plays a vital role in achieving a sort of biological balance on the planet. It also plays an important role in human life, since it has plenty of nutritious and industrial resources that are important to human life and welfare. To maintain a healthy and pollution-free environment for the good of humanity, most countries of the world have been keen on protecting the components of the marine environment from pollution. This has been achieved through enacting regulations and laws that limit the pollution of the marine environment, the negative effects of which have expanded to all countries of the world. The pollution that happens in the marine environment of a certain country causes harm not only to that country, but to other countries, as well-even to other continents. Of course, this has negative effects on the survival of the living creatures on the earth. Therefore, the pollution of the marine environment is one of the main problems that we face in modern life.
