The leadership style of language course managers
Details
The aim of the research whose results are presented here was to identify the leadership style adopted by the managers of a language course, in the perception of the managers themselves and their subordinates. The theoretical basis was based mainly on Rensis Likert and Patrícia Pitcher, leadership scholars who propose taxonomies to classify management styles. The research also included an analysis of the organization's internal documents. The results show that, according to Likert's taxonomy, employees classify their managers' styles as somewhere between consultative and participative. The leaders also revealed a perception of their own leadership behavior that was very close to that expressed by those they led. In the classification proposed by Pitcher, both workers and managers said they perceived a predominance of the "artisan" style, with some influence from the "artist".
