The Legal Framework of Waste Management in Nigeria and its Enforceability

This book is the author's research for his undergraduate thesis written in 2018. The research critically examines the issues affecting waste management in Nigeria. There is no gainsaying in the assertion that there is a need for a proper legal framework on waste management. This research is premised on the fact that there is a need for an effective mechanism to be in place for proper waste management in Nigeria. The issue with waste management in Nigeria is not the law but the enforceability of the laws. This research will adopt a mechanism that will help in waste management. There is the need to educate the society on the necessity for the protection of our environment. Hence, there should be a system that will help to orientate the youth from their primary school. It is a known fact that what is bestowed in the life of an infant reshapes its subconscious mind. If our primary school pupils can know that it is not good to drop nylon of ''chi-chi'' on the floor then we are sure of sustaining our environment as this will shape their subconscious mind when they come of age.It is indisputable that effective management of waste will be of great economic importance to the country.
