The Limitations of the UN Peace Keeping/Enforcing Operation Mechanism

The book examines the different procedures that the United Nations undertakes from within its mandated Charter for peace settlements. The book thus looks at the important role the Security Council, and the approach it takes to manage arising conflicts among United Nations Member States. It also reviews and analyses different cases of conflicts and highlights the types of settlements undertaken. The book also provides an in-depth exploration and analysis of the distinction between the mandates of peacekeeping and peace enforcement, illustrating how people/nations often confound them and misuse. A thorough examination follows on the military, political and logistical aspects of the two mandates, emphasizing on the major points of differences. This comparison supported the viewpoint of the author, which was that peacekeeping mandate is weak in general when it deals with conflicts and attempt to reach international peace and security.
