Saleh Jawdat is the son of the late Ismail Jawdat son of the late Saleh bin Ibrahim bin Khalil. The second grandfather of the author Saleh Jawdat was one of the notable persons of Mecca, who was exiled from it for some political reasons during the time of Sultan Mahmud II, so he settled in Cyprus and from Cyprus he was displaced to Egypt by his first grandfather, and one of his children was Ali Agha Saleh, a clerk of the late Muhammad Ali Pasha the Great, the governor of Egypt, and the elder uncle of the author was the late Tawwiq Pasha, an assistant to the sheriff of Mecca, then a commander of the Turkish armies in Yemen, and he died, and was buried in Al Hadidiyah.
