THE MANIEMA PROVINCE IN THE DRC AND ITS SOCIO-ECONOMIC CHALLENGES

This book is a collection of four articles written by several authors:1Mining reforms and development in the DRC's Maniema province : the authors point out that the DRC has carried out a number of reforms in the mining sector, notably the revision of the mining code, with a view to achieving the country's socio-economic development. However, this objective has still not been achieved, due to poor governance in the sector at all levels.2)Industry and the city : the authors explain that the city of Kindu is faced not only with the problem of urban population growth, but also with the problem of unemployment, due to a lack of jobs, given that there is no industry in the city.3War displaced persons and identity-based socialization in Kindu, DRC : The author shows that the absence of reception structures for displaced persons has led to integration based on assistance received from people sharing the same tribal, cultural or religious identity.4Challenges of integrating war-displaced people in Kindu, DRC : The author examines the various difficulties encountered by war-displaced people in integrating in Kindu.
