He is the author of Sigmund Romberg (2007), Rudolf Friml (2008), contributing co-editor of The Cambridge Companion to the Musical (2002; 2nd edition, 2008), and a contributing editor for musical theater for the New Grove Dictionary of American Music, 2nd edition.
