The mystery of god's names

This book reveals the secret of the naming of gods through the sacred codes intrinsic to their names. Shrouded in mystery, their essence is manifested in establishing the common mechanism of the nomination of theonyms. The study collects, analyzes and interprets linguistic and cultural facts related both to a variety of pagan gods (from primitive religious cults to the advanced pantheons of the great agricultural civilizations) and to the gods of the three basic monotheistic religions. The research accomplishes the idea of creating common and universal structural models comprising theonyms from ethnic groups and cultures of diverse origin through the methods of comparative-historical linguistics, structural linguistics and comparative mythology. The key to the mystery of gods' names is hidden in the level of linguistic reflection of religious and mythological beliefs in the internal form (the sense) of the theonym and the level of linguistic expression through its external (sound) form realized by means of reconstructing the archaic nomination. The analysis will draw the attention of both experts in linguistics and of readers interested in religion, mythology, philosophy, qabbalah.
