Anke Stahlberg was born on 7 October 1969 in Sömmerda, Thuringia. She began writing at an early age. Her texts are moving in their simple directness. After living in Berlin for ten years, Anke Stahlberg has been living in Leipzig with her husband and two children since 2002.
