Aura is just sixteen and she's a witch. She's doing fine on her own with her mother in olden-time Iceland until a man named Edan comes from the head governing body of the witches. She begins her training from him- under the orders of the Vicar- but once he leaves, she's depressed. Aura's mother returns with a message: Aura's to report to London to see the Vicar. She also finds that she's to be married to a man she hates. With a turn of events, Aura's betrothed dies, and Edan sweeps her away from her deranged mother just in time. But someone is on their tail to figure out how Aura's late fiancee died. What will become of Aura and Edan as they travel to meet the Vicar with someone trying to kill them? Will Aura choose her love for Edan over what the law really says she should do about him?
