Chapter One of this research is devoted to the historical and territorial genesis of the concept with extensive analysis of the spectrum of continuities and discontinuities between the modernism and postmodernism, in the light of influential thinkers such as Lyotard, Baudrillard and Jameson. Chapter Two argues that DeLillo is a modernist whose critical object concern is the postmodern condition. Chapter Three problematizes DeLillo's speculations on the commodification of art in the postmodern culture and the relationship between the artist and the terrorist. The research examines the following novels: White Noise, Mao II and Falling man.
