The place of art in architecture

This book is an anthology of writings published in different academic journals and memoirs. They represent twenty years of a recherche patiente on a fascinating subject, a line of research on the relationship between art and architecture over time. The articles are presented as chapters organized in two parts. In the first, the five chapters are of a theoretical and critical nature, referring to the reflection on the relationship between art and architecture. In the second part, the four chapters are of a documentary type, related to the author's works. The first of all corresponds to the formulation of the theory "Art+Architecture", arising from the author's doctoral thesis. The title "The place of art in architecture" is then a statement that aims to summarize the current state of understanding of the relationship between art and architecture. In it, the term "place" is understood according to four meanings: topological, ontological, ethical and aesthetic. And the term "in" adduces the "+" sign of the theory; art is added to architecture. This sum becomes integration and synthesis that are repeated countless times in history. Hence its validity and importance.

Architetto laureato presso l'Universidad de Los Andes, Venezuela, nel 1990. Master in Filosofia, presso la stessa università, e Dottorato di Ricerca in Composizione Architettonica presso il Politecnico di Milano, Italia. Professore presso la Facoltà di Architettura e Design dell'ULA dal 1991. Artista plastico contemporaneo con esposizioni nazionali e internazionali.
