The Plaza

The square is the meeting place of a city, where human exchanges take place, whether cultural, political, religious or economic, where citizens meet to make their social relations. The square is not just any place, it has specific laws that during history have been approached in different ways by different cultures. This book deals with the historical evolution of the square, as well as the physical-spatial analysis of this urban place par excellence. The person interested in the subject will find in this publication, an indispensable scaffolding to approach this space from the point of view of architectural and urban design. The Plaza as a place within the city has always had a preponderant place, firstly for the population that uses it, and secondly for the urban fabric and the physical-spatial conformation of the city. The square as a dynamic and participatory place can be concluded that it has preserved in essence, the same variables over time, which definitely give it its preeminence as the heart of the city.

Guadalupe Tamayo. Geboren in Caracas am 7. Mai 1953. Sie hat ihr Tätigkeitsfeld zwischen Lehre und architektonischer Gestaltung entwickelt. Schon in jungen Jahren unterrichtete sie Architekturdesign und reichte 2013 ihre Doktorarbeit in Architektur an der Universidad Central de Venezuela zum Thema ein: Liturgische Architektur.
