The politeness of kings between law and practice

This text comprises chapters which answer the following questions: (1) How do States conduct peaceful relations through embassies? (2) How do States conduct peaceful relations through consulates? (3) How do States conduct peaceful relations through international organisations? (4) How do States conduct their peaceful relations through international conferences? (5) How do States conduct their peaceful relations in times of war and through special missions? (6) How do domestic legal systems regulate issues relating to peaceful interactions between States? The answers to these questions are preceded by preliminary considerations relating to diplomatic history, public international law and the nature of the law of diplomatic and consular relations. They not only provide a snapshot of the scientific context in which the law of the politeness of kings is studied, but also enable us to understand the answers to the questions barely mentioned.
