Details

This is a thoughtful examination of the identity
building process Argentinean revolutionary activist
underwent from 1960 to 1995. By telling the life
story of individuals involved in armed struggle in
Argentina, it contributes to explaining political
identity building as a lifelong process of political
learning, which occurs when the private, public and
political lives intersect.
The reader will find out that the process
encloses
elements of change as well as of continuity
throughout three stages of identity building (early,
revolutionary, and post-revolutionary). The common
result of the surviving activists political learning
is a tremendous shift from revolutionary armed
methods toward a new appreciation of liberal and
democratic values. Through the lives of these
individuals, the author depicts a vivid overview of
Argentine political history and culture.
