This book examines performative practices of the ancient Romans, and provides fresh insights into the contexts of the Roman theater. The author suggests looking at ancient Rome as a large stage for a variety of performances and complex negotiations. Miroslaw Kocur is Head of Cultural Studies at the University of Wroclaw and Professor at the Academy of Theater Arts. His research focuses on reconstructing the origins of performing practices. He is the author of «On the Origins of Theater» and «The Second Birth of Theatre: Performances of Anglo-Saxon Monks».
