One of the unfortunate consequences of the great geographical discoveries of the new world (America), was the desire to eradicate local Indian tribes during the mass migration of Europeans and their conquest of territories of local aborigines - Indians, and settling the rest of them on reservations. At the beginning of the 19th century the fate of the Indian tribes on the territory of the modern USA was under the threat of extinction and the policy of the US government based on the emerging social and political situation was aimed at reducing the number of Indians as an ethnic group.
