The role of Error Correction in Teaching Oral Communication Skills
Details
Error management and correction is a very broad and interesting topic. There are numerous hypotheses connected with this issue, and the most important ones, namely Contrastive Analysis Hypothesis, Error Analysis, Interlanguage, Communicative Approach will be discussed in the following chapter. As far as the teacher's role is concerned, attitudes and opinions differ to a great extent, being even controversial at times. Some of us teachers treat errors as something natural that helps learners, while others consider them as unwanted evil that spoils the learning process. The truth probably lies somewhere in between. The results of this research study may come as a great surprise to other researchers interested in the subject matter.
