The Role of Institutions In Low-income Households'' Saving Behavior
Details
This study examines the role of institutions in the saving participation and performance of low-income households in Individual Development Accounts (IDAs). The study suggests that institutional characteristics are important in the saving behavior of low-income households. These findings can begin to provide policy makers with a better understanding of the role of institutions to help them create more successful programs that promote saving and asset accumulation among populations that generally do not have access to institutionalized saving mechanisms.
