The role of non-profit organisations in the fight against ageism

"It is possible that by 2050 half the population will be over the age of 50." The present low rate of senior employment in Hungary must by all means change, since society or the State will not be able to finance the support of the ever-increasing number of pensioners. On the basis of the interviews carried out with the six non-profit organisations and with the representative of the Employment Service it can be stated that the veiled form of ageism is very much present on the labour market. The stereotypes which give rise to this discrimination do not exist in reality; however, employers do not know about this or lack sufficient information about it, as about the labour market tools that exist for the positive discrimination and for the support of the employment of the over 50's.
