Details

While working as a teacher in schools and colleges, the researcher observed that adolescents tend to perform better in the school setting when they are exposed to conducive family environments that are characterised by guidance, two-way communication, co- operation and positive relationships. The researcher was, therefore, motivated to confirm or reject her assumption by empirical data. Three family related variables were identified and these are: socio- economic status, parent-child relationships and formation of self-concept. It was assumed that these variables are associated with adolescents' school related behaviours.
