What does Simone Weil's concept of 'rootedness' teach us in the 21st century? It helps to explain the incomprehensible: the world, which has become a 'global village,' possesses destructive forces that can no longer be kept in check by the illusion of the seemingly idyllic village. Simone Weil's concept of 'being rooted in placelessness' not only reminds us of the necessity of a Christian pilgrim existence, but also shows us that treating all people with solidarity is a commandment of Christian charity.
