The social stratification of language in Igboland
Details
A discrimination exists in Igbo land with regard to the use of the language of male and female speakers, and people from different occupations. This discrimination results in language shift, interference, code-switching and lexical diffusion. This work will serve as a useful tool in the hands of linguists, language teachers, students, and people from all walks of life. The results from the research will constitute solutions to gender studies analysts, language policy makers and the society at large.
