The Socio-economic Impact of Stroke in Livingstone, Zambia - Africa

This study helps to highlight the socio-economic impact not only of stroke but non-communicable diseases applied. It gives a picture of the socio-economic impact in an African Community. The study is timely in that it has documented the stroke impact officially in this part of the world. As the problem has been brought to light, we hope to start tackling the problems.

Miriam ist seit mehr als 16 Jahren im Gesundheitswesen tätig. Die ersten 10 Jahre ihrer Karriere verbrachte sie als Physiotherapeutin im Livingstone General Hospital in Livingstone im Bereich der Schlaganfallversorgung, wo sie die Auswirkungen des Schlaganfalls auf die Opfer, die Familien und die Haushalte miterlebte. Dies motivierte sie, das Problem offiziell zu dokumentieren.
