Details
The objective of this work is to make a tentative explanation of the producing mechanism of indirect speech act metonymy in the play Thunderstorm (a classic of a famous Chinese playwright Cao Yu) from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. The existing literature we can find at present is mainly concerning indirect speech act metonymy from the perspective of the rhetorical view, the structuralist view and the cognitive view. Most of the Chinese indirect speech act metonymy scholars investigate them about the history, development and classification. Look through the previous literatures, we can find that there are few experts studying indirect speech act metonymy in the play Thunderstorm and scarce books or papers concerning the theoretical aspects of indirect speech act metonymy. With regard to cognitive linguistics, almost no scholars take indirect speech act metonymy in the play Thunderstorm as data or the research target, so in this book, we mainly focus on the producing mechanism of indirect speech act metonymy in the play Thunderstorm from the perspective of cognitive linguistics.
