Details
Stories can enable us to tackle with difficult situations in life by providing us different patterns of human behavior and show us the way to the conflicts which we under go at various stages of life, and inspire us to try a different approach for living. They allow us to think symbolically and to contribute the gathered wisdom of the race in a story form. They are metaphors by which people evaluate and amend their lives by measuring them to those of the characters. The journey is an essential metaphor of most stories. Stories show external and inner journeys, an external journey in which the hero tries to achieve something difficult, and an inner journey in which the hero confronts some crisis of the spirit or self quest that leads to transformation. They act like compasses and maps to permit us to feel more aware of our identities and responsibilities and our relationship to the rest of the world.
