The water quality of the Amazon Rivers

The purpose of this work was to evaluate the water quality of the Peixe Boi River, in Pará, Brazil, as one of the main sources of the Amazon River Basin, addressing its physical, chemical and biological aspects. An Exploratory Research was carried out, with samples collected at three points along the river being performed sampling in the years 2016 and 2018. The results obtained were compared with the standard established by CONAMA Resolution 357/2005 for class II fresh waters. The results showed that most of the physical, chemical and microbiological variables analyzed do not meet the quality standard established by that legislation.
